METHODS OF SPANISH LANGUAGE TEACHING (K-12) (CR. 3)
This course is designed to address the needs and concerns of students preparing to teach foreign languages in the K-12 schools and in-service teachers who need a methods course for endorsement or licensure. It will also serve in-service teachers who are seeking to update their knowledge of second-language acquisition and instruction for personal growth or for academic credit toward state re-licensing or for national board certification. Conducted in Spanish.
ADVANCED SPANISH GRAMMAR AND STYLISTICS (CR. 3)
TUESDAY; 4:30PM - 7:30 PM; AB-5190
Selected problems of advanced style and grammar, with special emphasis on idiomatic usage, themes, essays, and oral presentations.
1.0 Identify different ways in which languages vary
2.0 Distinguish the preterit and imperfect tenses uses in narration
3.0 Understand certain linguistic mechanisms for descriptions
4.0 Appropriately use linguistic tools to give perspectives on situations
5.0 Appropriately foreground and background participants in a situation
6.0 Correctly foreground and background participants in a situation (II) Use the passive and active voice
7.0 Appropriately add details about participants
8.0 Correctly use prepositions, especially por and para, in writing
