The Master of Arts for Teachers (MAT) in Spanish is a program designed for individuals who already hold a standard license to teach Spanish or who have a certificate of eligibility (or equivalent) to teach Spanish while working toward regular licensure. It is a 30-credit program that allows completion in as few as two years and includes nine credits in core courses offered by the World Languages Institute, 15 credits in Spanish, three credits in an elective, and three credits of independent study. The courses focus on pedagogy, technology, assessment, literature, culture and civilization. They employ cutting-edge best practices in world language teaching and also emphasize innovative performance-based assessment techniques.
Students can learn from anywhere, study all year round, part-time or full-time, maintain their own schedule, enjoy small class sizes and receive individual attention from world-renowned faculty.
